I have kept Gabby's in fact all my hots on newspaper from the beginning for the sake of ease of clean-up. I am caving in and tryinp peat moss as a media, they seem to like it borrowing into it to a degree, but is it a good choice, and are there any real problems associated with its usage, aside from probable ingestion of a small quanity of it feeding, and that should not be a real issue.

i have found that for some of the crots i have kept as well as gaboons do very well in spagnum moss if it can be kept slightly moist to control humidity in the cage. i keep my aboreals on spagnum covered newspaper and fake plants( both can be kinda steralized if ya throw them in a REAALLY cold freezer for 48 hrs before use) which you can cleanse with a low grade alcohol solution. my naja stay with a spagnum filled nesting box on newspaper with sparce plastic plants(it makes it alot easier, believe me!) and a couple large rocks to aid in shedding. Oh of course water bowls in all the cages. hope it helps,

It is a good media if kept clean ...If you put off cleaning, it can cause Blisters and Also have plenty of little host bugs in it, I have used it for the past 12 years with no real problems....I would not freeze it To sterilize but steaming does a great job ..
