I know that this is not a venomous reptile, and this should be posted in the beginners forum, but no one ever posts there, and this is the only snake site I know of with a message board. I might be getting acorn snake and I was wondering, does anyone have a suggestion for caging, I would prefer a plastic cage. Thanks for the help!!

Firstly, check www.kingsnake.com for a cornsnake forum. As for caging, go with whatever you prefer! Glass/plastic aquariums work well. Just make sure that 1. their is adequate space for the animal 2. there is adequate ventilation (if there aren't many holes in the cage you have and the lid is solid, if it's a plastic aquarium drill some small holes!) 3. the cage is secured so that the slick bugger doesn't get out. Cornsnakes, along with many other species, tend to search around their cage to look for places to get out. They feel with their noses all over the place, and if you have even the slightest hold (you'd be surprised) they'll squeeze through their and out they go! If you find that you do have a hole somewhere, I'd suggest a strong sticky tape luck duct tape on both sides (outside and inside) of the enclosure to cover it up. Works for me
And PS. Don't use these suggestions for housing venomous! :)

Neodesha makes an excellent plastic cage, in many sizes, with sliding doors. Glue a hidebox to the top of the cage, & these adept climbers will use them. Corns are constrictors, but it is not necessary to feed them live prey animals. They will most often readily accept pre-killed mice. ~~Greg~~
