Description: Sri Lanka is one of the hottest places in the world for snakebites. Anuradahapura is one of the hottest places in Sri Lanka for snakebites. In this photo I am giving a lecture at the government hospital in Anuradhapura on western snakebite treatment modalities. After the lecture, one of the nurses came up and tearfully told me the tale of her uncle dying from a Russell's viper bite, 5 days and 30 vials of antivenom afterward!
