Description: A recent rescue (011024), this huge snake was set to receive the pointy end of a shovel when I showed up to rescue it. At 72 and 1/4 inches it was indeed massive. It compressed its neck sideways as if it were a European Rat Snake and lunged at me repeatedly with its mouth open and hissing like a Pine Snake. Notice how I'm holding it away? These snakes' musk STINKS! It was transported less than two miles to a more "remote" creekside swampy area, photographed, measured and released. Drymarchon corais couperi from Camden County, Georgia.
