Description: Look what they caught on the base in Kings Bay!!!
The attached photo shows a 5 1/2 ft. Eastern diamondback rattlesnake being held up by Animal Control officer Peter Buglino just prior to its destruction. Pete captured the rattlesnake at noon today at the Trident Lakes Golf Course aboard SUBASE. Children on the course who were attempting to retrieve a golf ball at the greens edge heard the rattlesnake and reported it to some adults on the course. This particular rattlesnake had "18" rattles on it's tail. According to Pete, this is the second good size rattlesnake he has retrieved from the golf course and has captured about "10" rattlesnakes since the start of this summer. About half of these snakes exceeded 4-5 feet in length.

All they had to do was call me. Destruction of a venomous reptile is not necessary, there are plenty of people who would "adopt" such an animal if relocation is not an option! Very sad indeed,
