Description: Douglas R. Mader; Hardcover; Buy New: $99.00 -- An advanced text written primarily for practicing veterinarians, but which may also serve as a reference for the technical hobbyist or commercial breeder. Covers all reptiles, but is heavy on snake infomation. One caveat-- this is not the easiest book to read (unless you happen to routinely use words like dysecdysis and dystocias), but the information it contains more than makes up for the difficulty.

i agree with norm this book might be difficult to read if you are not already familier with the contents such as microbiology, neoplasma, neurology, and so on also intersting information about zoonotic diseases in reptiles . the book also has some information about diseases and disorders of amphibians.

While occasionally difficult for the non-professional to read, this book is the most comprehensive guide to reptile health care I've ever read. It's 63 chapters cover everything from opthalmology to ophidian paramyxovirus. Other chapters include Neurology, Parasitology, Nutrition, Fracture Management, Therapeutics, Bites from Prey, and Thermal Burns. Since it is written for veterinarians, those without DVM's might want to consider getting Saunder's Comprehensive Veterinary Dictionary.
