A beutiful book with details which needed for amateurs as well as professionals in this part of the world. The photographs, species details, ditribution all these things reflect the commitment of Rom, Ashok Captain & Others involved in reptiles research and conservation in India. A must to have for all those involved with snakes. This book forced me to look these beutiful creatures in more detail and with greater respect.

I was expecting it to be that good. Rom. Whitaker and Ashok Captain proved to the world that they are the best when Snakes of India are concerned.I have seen such a detailed description of Indian snakes in any of the earlier herpeto-guides.The photography is awesomely beautiful. The minute details like body scalations of each species, natural history/behavior, distribution, and look-alikes are mentioned.

The pics make it an outstanding book and a must have for any one interested in Indian snakes.
The up to date Taxanomic changes are a very helpfull. In the end a must have.

Awesome!!! Couldn’t be any better than this. Rom Whitaker, Ashok Captain and not to forget Janaki Lenin (Behind the Curtains) have done a simply astounding job here. A decade of hard work and a lifetime of love is what is very apparent in the feel of the book. The description, scale counts, the photographs and documentation of some of the rarest snake is something makes this book a perfect 10. All the herpers are going to love the book as much as they love the herpes.

One heck of book! Fantastic photographs printed on high quality stock. Some of the pictures are by Wolfgang Wuster & Mark O'Shea. Over 450 pages of information on common and not so common snakes of India. Including many I've never seen before! This book is worth much more than they are asking.
Cheers!
