Description: Findlay E. Russel; Hardcover; Buy used about $80.00 -- published in May 1983, this has long been considered a definitive book on the topic of snakebite. Contains information on natural history of snake species, venom toxicology, clinical indications, and treatment. Very graphic photos as well. Written more so for the medical field, but should be in the collection of anyone who deals with venomous snakes.

Since I am a snakebite instructor in North America, this would have to rank as one of my favorites. Although treatment of snakebite is constantly being altered, most of this book will be timeless. This book pre-dates CroFab, but the general premises of antivenom administration will still hold true. I have implemented many of Russell's treatment concepts with good success. I'm a fan.

Most probably the best book ever written that covers the toxic affects on the human body after snake envenomation. It mainly covers the venoms of the North American Crotalids/Micrurus,but also some of the more excotic Echis,Bitis etc.It took me 2mths searching on the net to find a new copy of this book and it was well worth the wait.It now takes its place next to "Handbook of clinical toxicology of animal venoms and poisons"on my shelf.I'm a firm beleivoiur that you should be aware of the capabilities your captive snake is able to inflict upon you,and Dr Russel does just that.Money well spent.
