I really like this book. It is an excellent source of "general" information on over 400 species of snakes. Many species in this book simply cannot be found at all in any other text. I like the information that it gives on range, natural history and captive care. Personally, I don't think that any herp keeper should be without this one.

A worthy addition to any keeper's library.

This fine book includes most snakes that can be expected to be in virtually anyone's collection, plus a lot that most keepers would never expect to own. Each snake has a section on care, which in a lot of cases is quite helpful. Mr. Mehrtens did a creditable job on this book. It is truly a shame he died not long after it was published.
