The information provided within this field guide was far more than I had ever expected. I purchased this reference for a friend, however, until I acquire another copy, I am not giving "MY" copy up, "no matter what" !

Detailed description on reptiles and amphibians of North Amer.
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

I am studying to be a Herpetologist at Northeastern State University and a friend of mine who is a professor of mine is a doctor. When we go out looking for snakes, frogs, lizards, etc... we use the peterson's field guide of central and eastern North America. Although I prefer pictures of the animals, it does have great illustrated drawings and very detailed ranges of the animal species.

Best Available Covering its area!
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

There are lots of field guides available these days but this particular one gives the best coverage for its area. I personally appreciate that it shows the whole body pictures of each snake instead of just the heads. I have had the latest copy of this field guide as long as I can remember. It is still the first reference I open when checking snake IDs in this area. I recommend sticking a copy of your local field guide in your back pocket or backpack every time you go out in the field.
