Description: Size: Adjustable 6" - 25". They can clip in a shirt pocket until needed. This little hook is great for moving baby snakes from point to point. Caution must be taken when using. These retractable tubes are non-locking and must be used in a very lightweight situation.

LOL @ Buzztail1.
hahaha yup I've had to bend a few coat hangers in the past haha.
This is a wonderful little tool and great for small vipers. Though I haven't ever used mine properly seeing as how like after three days playing with it I kinda pulled it out to hard and broke it in half... DUCK TAPE!
Duck tape fixed it up though and I now use it on all my snakes when they don't feel like being my friend. My advice is get one... just don't get so excited about it and pull it out to far and break it like some of those red necks
-points at him self-
well best of luck to everyone. happy herping and stay safe.
Best,
Blake

Best tool for breeders

This is a standard tool for breeders as far as I'm concerned. Very convenient. I also use it on adult pigmys and any other snake around 16 inches long.

A needed little tool
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

This is required for anyone who goes into the field in search of hots. The only thing I don't like about mine is that it's just a bit too long, when retracted, to fit securley in my shirt pocket. I've had to pick it up on several occasions after leaning forward and it finally ends up in my back pants pocket - with the potential of being forgotten.

Pocket hook
|
Time owned: more than 12 months

I did not get my pocket hook from Midwest,
however I have the same basic thing.
It is a staple item in my herp gear bag.
Great for snakes under 1 Lbs.
The only thing I don't like is,
they rotate pretty easily and fully extended
it will bend if too much weight is on the hook.
so I almost never fully extend it. Instead I keep
it shorter with only the largest segments making up the shaft and the thinner segments
inside. This keeps it from bending.
The pocket clip is nice because you can clip it on your shirt when you need both hands to tie a bag etc.

Excellent tool of necessity!

I am sure that I am not the only person ever to mangle a coat hanger because I didn't have a hook small enough for a particular snake. These hooks are great for Sistrurus and neonates of most US snakes. Small enough to hook into a pocket for convenient carrying and yet extend out long enough for most cage work (and some field work). I have two in case of "bad scale days."
