It gives you a beginning start in the world of venomous herps. I like the book. It is too broad though. Their are many things they did leave out though.

This book may be of interest to those who have no previous knowledge of venomous snakes. The information in this book is far to general to be of much use to individuals with an intermediate understanding of the subject. The highlight of this book is that it contains some excellent venomous pictures (taken by Dr. Wuster and others).

This book sure had great pictures. But the information only touched the surface and I would have enjoyed more and deeper information about every topic. I think it's a good book about snakekeeping basics, not venomous snake keeping.

An O.K book, the photos are graet (as with all TFH books)
Indeed very basic info, but nevertheless, a nice book for starters.
Also contains some contributions from word famous herpetologists, and a few bite pictures

Venomous Snakes of the World I believe was very good....why do you all ask?
Ok....I am An Aussie...over here we hear very little of new handling techniques, crots, Non Aussie elapids etc....I had not heard of fea's vipers, shield nosed Cobras etc before reading this book. Which caused me to find out all I could about these and many other species.
Ideas that I have picked up include trap boxes...which I now use for my Coastal Taipans, shields, and tubing.
Great pictures as well.
As for similar products...show me one!

It has a couple of nice pics ;-]
The book is not very detailed, but it gives some basic info on venomous. More of a book for someone who doesn't keep venomous.
