Description: At around 1-1/2 lbs., this collapsible snake bagger rides compactly on your hip in an open sheath. The extra long 55" bag with restraining tube attachment sleeve is made of lightweight ripstop nylon. Super compact at only 22" long x 5" wide x 1-1/2" thick. May be carried this way until needed, freeing your hands. When a snake is discovered in the field, you can use a hook or tong with one hand and when ready, reach to your hip with the other. Pull out the Pro Bagger and with a flip of your wrist, the system locks in place ready for use. Overall size is 36 inches, but with a push of a button it can be extended to 48 inches long. This item was designed in the beginning for Mark O’Shea, needing a collapsible, lightweight system for fieldwork. He used it for over a year before we decided to release it to the public. This unit will be most useful for researchers and others wanting these capabilities. The triangular shaped hoop is approximately 20" wide and 15" out from handle. Warning: There is no top bar on the triangle that can be used to pin the bag shut! This is necessary to allow for the collapsibility of this unit. You will love this tool.

Awesome!

This thing is awesome! I echo what the others have previously stated.
I would like to also add that besides use in the field that this system is also an invaluable tool in the hot room. I have bagged an ill tempered 10' Ophiophagus hannah ( King cobra ) effortlessly. The snake had a retained eye cap from a previous bad shed. I especially liked the restraining tube attachment sleeve that made tubing this specimen a breeze. In addition, I would reccomend buying a set of Midwest's restraining tubes along with this system. They make an unbeatable combination. I am simply amazed by this product's ease of use and most importantly how it does not harm nor stress the snake. I have had mine now for over six years plus and it has always operated flawlessly no matter what the enviroment ,(Out in the field or in the hot room), situation, or the snake. Dana and the rest of the Midwest team have really made this the ideal tool for the discerning herper. This system fills the order when it comes to a herp tool that is functional, safe, and effective.

Very slick!

The herping weather finally came and I hooked the pro-bagger onto my belt and away we went. I was astounded! A flick of the wrist, a prod on the tail from my hook and a four foot long Eastern Diamondback was effortlessly and more importantly almost stress-lessly contained. Now I don't go into the field without it. No set-up time, one handed use. A great field tool!

How did I get along without it?

This commercially made bagger is not only collapsible, it has a huge nylon bag that I have easily bagged Eastern Diamondbacks, Cottonmouths and Mambas with. Even when a mamba is bagged, it is unable to climb the slick nylon interior of the bag. This is a must-have tool for herpetologists doing field work.
