Worthless for Snakes !
|
Time owned: 0 to 3 months

Products like this are designed for dealing with vicious dogs, livestock, primates, and have some very limited use in dealing with crocodilians.
At the Atlanta Zoo we would sometimes use these products to secure a crocodile's jaws until they could be taped shut.
Only a complete moron would use a item like this on snakes.

Don't use on venomous
|
Time owned: months

Ok, granted, I can’t see where it recommends the use of this item on a venomous snake, but given the subject of this web-site, it is nderstandable
that new visitors might think a control pole is suitable…..If you are thinking about buying one for handling venomous snakes, don’t ! Save yourself $$$$ and just pick up a heavy stick and beat the snake until it gives up the fight….The result will be pretty much the same as if you used a control pole…massive internal injuries! Seriously though (sarcasm aside), snakes are very delicate creatures and great caution should be used with any restraint tool. Paul D. Rowley

Beware the cheapies!

Anyone who would consider using a noose pole on a venomous snake doesn't know enough about them to be designing handling products. While I can't swear it's the same company, I am pretty sure I've seen some of their products at a show. They are typical cheap Pakistani knockoffs made with an inferior grade of metal. The better American tong makers use aircraft grade aluminum and other raw materials with high tensile strength, and use precision machining. The Pakistani companies do it on the cheap, and you get what you pay for. Buyer beware.
