The response was from me approaching to retrieve my
camera. I walked up behind the shelter stone and used my
hook to pull my camera up by the hand strap. I figured I
would keep it in as a display of how quickly a female will
react to a perceived threat while among her babies. This
particular female is one that I have been watching since
April, and this is not a reaction I am used to from her.
Normally she would just slide back beneath her stone,
sometimes rattling as she did so and sometimes silently. I
try to only film natural behavior. But in this case, I felt her
reaction to my un natural presence could have just as easily
been provoked and replicated by a bear or hog stalking
near.
