Venomoids: An Overview

So here it is 13 years later and not much has changed regarding opinions about venomoids. Since I first learned of this practice I've had two questions that have NEVER been answered:
1. Why does someone want to own a venomoid? I'd love to hear from an owner his/her reason. My opinion has always been that the primary reason for owning a species that has the potential to kill you is for that reason. Danger is an aphrodisiac to some and to have that element removed is something I've never understood. I have an A. Crotalus and simply would not want the snake if it was venomoid.
2. Snakes are animals that are and at the same time not predictable. Sometimes they go off feed and they cannot tell you why. My snake was on a diet of frozen/thawed then one day would not take it. Gave it live food as a desperate measure and bingo. Instantly it would eat. That went on for 7 months until I found her tail had been chewed on by the mouse. It was no longer interested in live and once again I began feeding it frozen/thawed. I mention this story for a reason.
I'm assuming that venom glands are removed on only those snakes that will take some sort of frozen/thawed. What should happen to that animal is all of a sudden it refused to eat frozen/thawed? Sure it can kill live prey if its fang(s) hit the brain or the heart, but what if it doesn't? I'd love to hear from owners of venomoids who've had problems with feeding and how they were overcome (or not overcome).
Very good article..very informative. Thanks for the listen.
