Hi guys,
One of my adult Canebrakes died last night. I'm still not sure why. He had just shed two days ago and was a beautiful pink. I'd hate to bury him and was wondering if anyone here knew of any taxidermists that specialized in reptiles. Somewherein northeast or central Florida would be best. He's just sitting up in my freezer for now. Any ideas?
Matt

Geeze Matt, Sorry to hear that:-( I lost a CCB River Jack the same way. At necropsy I found it was loaded with worms. I bet that's what got your CB.
Do a web search. The newer technique is done by "Freeze Drying" and has superior results.
Best,
Al

Thanks Al. Worms? It's certainly possible but I wonder how he would have gotten them. He was CBB and lived indoors his entire life and was fed on F/T. I guess something could have made it through... I'll check out the freeze drying.

Matt:
There is a slight risk of paracytes surviving if the freezing process is not long enough > 30 days at -20C. No system is perfect, thats why I check the stools once a quarter to be sure. All you have to do is take it outside for a photo or some "exersize" and place it on the ground. Who knows for sure, I don't.

If you cant find anyone to "stuff" it. Put it in a big jar and fill the jar with rubbing alcohol.I have a friend that does that.
