In an upcoming show Austin claims that 50% of victims of Crotalus adamanteus bites die. This is far from true with good medical care.
I have written to AP and told them my problems with the show .( Abusive handling and bad information .)
Write them when you like a show ,but also when you don't.
Man eatting pythons and killer pitvipers this doesn't help the image of snakes. It may help ratings but not education to conserve these unique animals.
There website is www.animalplanet.com

Leave him alone. Austin has been through alot. Wars, snake bites, etc. Your basically trying to ruin his life. Austin is one of my favorites. The reason he gets bit is because hes not handling the slow moving copperheads and such that we handle, hes handling cobras and vipers. Leave him alone and quit watching his show. You say you dont like it then why do you keep watching it.

Austin is a moron, Phillip !!! Jim Harrison handles all of the worlds venomous snakes, not only coppers and has far more experience than Austin Stevens, but you don`t need that kind of experience to see how much harm this guy brings us all and herps in general. If he properly handled the cobras he would have never got bit. He is a complete imbecile !!! I stay by my opinion. And what kind of person "cacthes" a wild West african gaboon viper in eastern africa ? I hope he dies before he gets to make more shows. He`s a lot better dead than alive, at least in my opinion.

St. Lucia Estuaries is in east africa, but the west african gaboon viper also lives there. Ive done studies on both species and have found the west african in the spot where austin stevens found his which is in east africa.

Austin Stevens over-exaggerates a lot and tells a lot of false information. I had respect for the man before his AP show. A lot of the things in his show are fake.
One thing I know that is fake is his photography. I know camera equipment and the camera he has on his show is a Canon EOS Elan II. His camera lens is a Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4.0 wide angle lens. The minimum focusing distance on that camera is 19.7 inches. That means all those times that he is one inch away from the snake and photographing it is fake.
If he lies about that, then he'll lie about the rest of it, too. He most likely stages his scenes and the camera tricks and stupid background music is pathetic.

I too wrote AP. He's just not the type to "champion" our cause. I too think he has some nice animals on the shows I've seen but I flipped to AP and saw it was his show on..so I kept on flipping channels.

i do agree with Aaron its usualy young teenegers that like those type of shows with steve irwin and austen stevens , i used to like steve irwin but as i grew and learnt more about reptiles i realized he s not that great and the shows that these people do are pretty boring . i never watch them any more a prefer to read books about reptiles rather then watch these people on tv.
