Hi everyone. Is it o.k. to use tap water for your reptiles? For example:water bowl, swimming area for snakes turtles and crocodilians, etc. If it isnt safe what are some alternatives? I have a spring beside my house that I occasionally use, but it is alot of work to fill up buckets with water and bringing them back to my house since I clean the water every other day. Thank you,,,,,Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy:
If you can drink it they can too. The only animals I WOULD NOT put in tap water are Amphibians.

De-chlorinating water won't keep bacteria levels down, if anything, they'll go up.

Chlorine is volatile. It will sort of evaporate out of water. I suggest you fill a couple of milk jugs with tap water and leave the lid off. Use those when you do the next water change, and then fill them up again for the next change.
Two days won’t get you much in the way of bacteria, and it will give the water time to lose most of its chlorine.
