It depends on several factors....
1) The species of rattlesnake..some rattlesnakes prey almost entirely on ectothermic prey, while others prey on strictly endothermic prey....
2) The life-stage of the rattlesnake...many normally endothermic snakes prey on a wide variety of both ectothermic and endothermic prey as juveniles....For example, juvenile Crotalus scutulatus scutulatus are certainly more dependent on reptiles and occasionally amphibians as food than are adults.....As adults, these snakes prey almost exclusively on endothermic prey items....
3) The location of the snake....In some areas, a species like Crotalus cerastes might prey on both ectothermic and endothermic prey, while in others they prey primarily on ectothermic prey...One possible explanation is that in certain areas, lizards are far more common than rodents, and thus, this is what the snake eats....
The list goes on, but you get the idea....
-Hope I've been of help!
