I fed my eastern DB a big hamster about 3 weeks ago. He is taking a while to digest the food. He has alot of heat and has finally defecated, Im going to feed him again soon. Is it common for a big hamster to hold a edb over for a few weeks, or is it better to feed everyweek.

Jeremy:
Remember in the wild they many not be successful hunting but maybe a few times a season. However, they may be on the cooler side part of the time thus a slower metabolism. Yes, the EDB is most likely doing just fine with one hamster every 3 to 4 weeks. Try to get it to eat something cheaper though!
Good luck,
Al

No worries, my WC EDB only eat about once every 3 months. WC don't seem to eat near as much as CB unless you get them very young.

Thanks cottonmouth and phobos. I agree that I need to try to get it to eat something less expensive. They are 10 dollars plus tax each. and thats just the Dwarf Hamsters!!The rabbits here are 30 dollars apiece. Oh Yeah, just for future reference, when he gets lets say 5 or 6 feet could I feed him chickens?? I know of a place where I could get them for close to nothing. Thank you.
