I noticed that on the 3rd edition of Tennants guide also, last I checked the newest date on it is August 2005 but it was originally scheduled to come out probably over a year ago. Those Texas Field Guide publishers seem to have problems, for a while the 2nd edition of Tennants book was out of print and Bartletts Reptiles & Amphbians guide has been out of print for quite some time now too. I actually called them up about the Reptile guide and they couldn't tell me anything except that it would be out of print for an undetermined amount of time, I imagine they are just as clueless about why Tennants guide keeps getting pushed back.

The thread is long until this point. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but "FLASH CARDS" are an excellent study tool. Just follow the hiearchy of classification. Start by family, Elapidae, Viperidae, etc and then go by genus. Set goals for yourself. Promise yourself that you are going to learn the names of all the Aspidelaps and Elapsoidea one day, then learn Bitis and Naja another. It takes time, but you have to know your stuff.
Peace OUT!
