I was just told that Wyeth is still producing their crotalid polyvalent. Do any of you know if that is true? I'm going to try to contact them and find out for sure - I'll let you knwo what I find out.

They stopped making AV in 2000. The stuff that's still on the shelves will expire in 2005.
FYI - However, many experts agree that in reality, the expired Wyeth AV will still be usable for many years to come -- some say up to 5 more years. Of course no one will sign their name to that statement since the FDA and trial lawyers would hang such a person. But maybe they should at least save the expired AV for veterinary use?

I actually just read last night that they are going to begin making more of the crotalid AV. I have to find the link again and I'm stil trying to find a number to talkto a live person and find out once and for all. The page that I was reading had been updated three or four days ago so they may be. I really hope so. Crofab makes me itchy.
Thanks Chris. I'll let you guys know when I find a reliable answer.

I know little about the production, Jim Harrison told me in Bristol, VA in2003 that they were producing the bear minimum needed to maintain the license to produce it. According to him, they are expecting problems to arise with crofab since it was not tested long term. They want to be in position to begin mass production again if the demand returns. That info is 2 years old and they may have completely pulled out of that market by now. It my understanding is they are still the number one choice for animal AV. Not sure if crofab doesn’t work on dogs or if its just the fact people will not pay $1000/viel for their hound.
