Hello. Theres no way that I would even think about getting a venomoid, but if I lived somewhere that it was against the law to have exotic venomous would it be legal to have a venomoid venomous.

In most counties, where venomous reptiles are illegal, they also consider a venomoid to be venomous. Same reasons that venomoids are shipped as dangerous cargo.

hi :
Depending on which State or Country you live in, it may be necessary to have permits or licences in order to keep a venomoid (or venomous) reptile. In general you need a permit to keep a venomoid snake if you need to have a permit to keep venomous snakes in your country or state you live in. Some species of venomous snakes that are listed under CITES, can only be kept if you have a CITES permit for that particular animal. Information on species that are CITES listed is available on the CITES Website. Keepers in the USA can access information on State Laws regarding the keeping of venomous/venomoid snakes by visiting the Coastal Reptiles Website. They have a complete list that tells you if you need a permit or not .

I know specifically that the State of Georgia does not differentiate between venomous and venomoid.
In other words, GA DNR considers a venomoid cobra the same as a normally functioning cobra and still maintains the same prohibitively expensive permit requirements for both animals.
Hope this helps.

NY is the same way, at least for now, a venomoid is considered venomous by the DEC's standpoint.
I remember seeing a permit at a Hamburg show that had a venomoid bushmaster on it. I won't express my opinions at this particular time.....for once.
