I have had a female gaboon for 3.5 years and a male for about 2.5 and a male rhino for about 2. Its getting about that time to consider my first breeding project. So, I have a few inquiries. A) difficulty cross breeding the 2 species b) difficulty with different size variable, I think the 2 gaboons are close enough in size, but the females probably about five inches longer. c)should I drop there temperature this winter for hormone growth and to what degree and for how long(any suggestions on regulating temperature. d)I keep all species seperated now, when and how long should I place them together during breeding season and when is breeding season. Also, any additional info would be appreciated.

I'm not really sure about the temp drop, but I had a 4ft male Gaboon and a female 5ft Rhino and got them to crossbreed, unfortunately the female died about a month after breeding.I usually keep my snakes around 70-75 degrees, try keeping them at around 70 degrees for about a month and then start raising the temp a little each week. When I put my female Rhino in with the male Gaboon the inside of the cage was 80 degrees(75 at night)(I kept it at 80).Be careful because they didnt really like each other at first and I was afraid that they were going to kill each other(I have a friend that was trying to breed Gaboons and his female has already killed two males,Including the one I bred with the female Rhino that he bought from me).I started misting them once in the morning When the temp was 80 degrees and (lightly)once two hours before bed,to create a wet season.Make sure they have a dry place in the cage so they wont get water blisters.I did this for around two weeks and one day I came in and they were mating.I continued for about two more days and then let the cage dry up some and only misted them about once a week(I lightly mist my cages once a week). If they do breed make sure you seperate the two because that may be why my Rhino died,I think being in the cage with my Gaboon stressed her out and she died.Hope this helps!
