Is there anti-venom for the Green Bush Viper(Atheris squamiger)? I have read some older articles that said there wasnt but I didnt know if there had been any recent developments. Thanks for any info.

No. The German Berhingwerke was reported to have cross-reactivity with some Atheris, but they are no longer in the antivenom business. A couple of months ago I brought this subject up with WW, BGF and Tim Friede and I got the general impression that an Echis or Cerastes antivenom might have some cross-reactivity with a general Atheris envenomation. I do not believe that any SAVP antivenoms are particularly effective. I'd check my AV index, but it's packed up as I'm deploying to hot herp country.
Cheers

In the book, 'The Dangerous Snakes of Africa' (S. Spawls & B. Branch.1995, Ralph Curtis-Books, Sanibel Island, FL)the authors state, "Existing antivenoms do not neutralize the venom of this species. In two cases, no relief resulted from the use of Pasteur polyvalent antivenom. Bites should be treated by elevation, and with analgesic and antibiotic cover. Poor blood clotting may require blood transfusions."
