Hi guys. I`m getting a baby Crotalus atrox in 2 weeks and I have no experience with keeping Crotalus. I`m not interested in handeling tehniques or things like that but in apropriate caging, feeding etc. How do baby wdb-s eat ? I heard most baby rattlers can be pretty bad feeders. Also, what would be the best day/night temps? Thanks again, Alex S.

Hey Alex....Cool
Start here: http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Crotalus_atrox.html
Can get onto specifics tomorrow. Yes, they are nasty beasts but not agressive, will always try to back away.

Hey, I think the atrox is a good choice. My personnal favorite. They usually have a pretty good defensive attitude, but what crotalus dont. (LOL) I have never had a problem getting rattlesnakes to eat, espically babies. I had 8 neonate cane's and they all were good feeders. Just watch the business end of the atrox, they produce a pretty nasty bite. Absolutley my favorite of the crotalus species. Bryan

I kept 3 babies that I cought while road cruising for about a week (until my landlord came and inspected my place!) and i tried to freed them pinkies. At first they were very nervous and flat out scared but after a few hours, the pinkies were gone. After that first feeding, they were very opportunistic feeders. HOWEVER, BE CAREFUL WITH THE LITTLE ONES. Those small atrox are squirly and tough to manipulate should you need to do any servicing to the cage etc. I'd MUCH rather work with an adult atrox than a baby. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys. My pc is busted so I`m checking my answers on my sister`s computer about once a week. Some one once said that it`s harder to get rattlers to eat if you don`t keep more than 1 togehter. Any one have trouble getting 1 baby atrox to feed ?
Thanks again, Alex S.
