Well, there are a couple of different ways. If you bred an albino to a het, 50% of the babies would be hets, and the other 50% would be albinos. Alternately, if you bred two hets together, 50% of their babies would be hets, 25% would be full albinos, and another 25% would be normals. But in that particular case, other than by breeding them, there would be no way to tell the difference between the hets and the normals, as they would appear the same.

I believe you are referring to the 50% possible hets? If so, this just refers to the odds that the particular animal is het for the trait you're looking for. A 50% "poss het" is achieved by breeding a definite (or 100%) het, to a normal animal. The babies each have a 50/50 shot at being a het, or not being a het.
In another example, lets say you breed two definite hets together. Probability says that you'll get roughly 25% of the offspring to be the morph, while 50% are hets and the last 25% are totally normal. But, since you can't tell the hets apart from the normals in most cases, you have to say that any normal looking animal in the clutch is a 66% poss het....that is, each normal animal has a 2 in 3 chance of being a het.
If you're looking at albinism, any time an actual albino is thrown in the mix, all the babies will either be definite hets or albinos themselves, depending on what the two parents were. If you're seeing ads by people saying they have 50% hets bred from an albino to something else, which I have personally seen a few times, the people either A. don't know what they're talking about, or B. are trying to scam unwary customers.
Let me know if I can clear any of the above up any better.
