Hi guys. I just came back from an exhausting 24 hour trip and did so with a new animal to add to my collection: 1.0. c.b. Crotalus atrox. It`s about 40-50cm in lenght and about as thick as my thumb. It has 4 little buttons on the end of it`s tail but can be pretty loud with them. The guy who gave it to me said it`s a Crotalus adamanteus but I`m sure it`s an atrox. It has white eye merkings and not black like the edb and it`s tail is black-white striped. I`m keeping it for a few days in a plastic shoe box and then moving it to a very nice terrarium. I hope it will eat well. If I can come up with the money I might buy a pair for it for just 70 euros. I spent 100 on this one.
The guys that gave me the rattler have the biggest most impressive herp collection in Romania. They have the only hipo-melanistic(almost albino) Naja nivea in Europe. 4 species of python, boas, about 10 species of rattlers, about 10 species of other vipers, about 5 species of cobra, 1 w. green mamba, monitors, tegus, kings, milks, corns, bulls, several species of rat snakes, false water cobra, mangroves, agamas, almost anything, you name it. It`s a realy cool collections.
Best regards, Alex S.

That's great. Yeah I know what you mean about them rattling. They are some of the most agressive rattlesnakes I have ever worked with. I remeber a guy telling me all he did was walk in the room and they would start just rattleing away. He said if he only got near the cage the snake would start striking and rattling non-stop. They are gorgues snakes. IF you have a picture of it send it to me at higganse@bellsouth.net I would love to see him.

Alex:
Congradulations on obtaining the C. atrox. ! They are pretty amazing! Don't worry about it eating, they usually feed very well in captivity. It should do great for you. Best Regards JohnZ

Guys, if I take some pics of my snake and post them here could you please help me in identifieing the species 100% ? I`m almost sure it`s an atrox but as you allready know I`m no rattlesnake expert and I maybe wrong. I some times confused mojaves for wdb s. I`ll try to take some good shots of it and post them on the Crotalinae photo album. Thanks in advance. Alex S.
