FYI - Devenomized.com is currently using files and photos that were stolen from this website and many other SHHS members sites. In their care sheet section, they have both my EDB care sheet, and my and Greg Longhurst's Coralsnake care sheet. I also understand that they have stolen photos and care sheets from MsTT (www.Snakegetters.com) and Richard Mastenbroek to name just a couple.
We are about to proceed with action on this blatant thievery of our original works.

I have seen another site that stole a members picture of a cottonmouth and water snake comparison. I am not sure if they had permission but I know that one of the members on this site originally posted it.

They stole several of Dexter Bressers' pics (Creative Photo Art), as well. Come down on 'em hard, Chris.

VenomousReptiles.org community:
DEVENOMIZED.COM was a website created to inform potential buyers about devenomized snakes and give them enough information to help them make a decision regarding their purchase. The website also serves to educate the general public about venomoids in general.
DEVENOMIZED.COM does not sell, buy, or trade any venomous snakes and we do not work for Liam's Herps, The Reptile Room, Carolina Reptile Exchange, or Venomoid Inc. Although, I know it is a controversial issue and I just wanted to create a website for informational purposes only.
In the process of creating this website, I tried to compile a collection of images of venomous reptiles, and some venomoid snakes. I took the liberty of using Tropical Vision's images and I did not request permission to use them. In addition, because my website was created with Flash, for formating issues, i converted care sheets to pdf files for easy view/download. I honestly did not see the need to contact the author of an electronic document that is available to the general public if i was going to keep the document intact and include the author's credit.
I have read a few posts that were removed from Kingsnake.com as well as this post i just found and yesterday I contacted John, owner of Tropical Vision. As per John's requests I will be removing his copyrighted images and i won't display the care sheets from his website. He told me that if I was doing a website about venomous reptiles, he would not have an issue, but he is completly opposed to the sale and distribution of devenomized snakes. I completly understand and respect his opinion. In addition, I contacted Greg L in reference to another care sheet that he co-authored with Chris and as per his request this pdf file will be removed from my website.
I was unable to contact Chris and Greg L has not replied to my request for an email or phone to contact him since he co-authored a care sheet and Chris wrote one too. As per Chris' request on this post, I will be removing his care sheet from my website. Richard M has been contacted regarding the use of his Elapids' care sheets as well as the remaining authors.
If there are any users on this website as well as anyone that would like to request an image removed, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. The purpose of this website was not to start a debate or start any problems. I'm willing to work with anyone who would like to give me constructive criticism or point out anything that might required immediate change; however, I would not appreciate someone disclosing my personal information because they were unable to contact me via my email address that's published at DEVENOMIZED.COM. The website won't be shut down like someone said on this post. I am willing to learn from mistake, listen to others, and even work with people who will teach more about venomous reptiles in general. After all, some people might be against venomoids, but wouldn't the care for venomoid snake as far as housing, temperature, humidity, and behavior be similar? Wouldn't someone who loves reptiles want to have the best possible enviroment to keep them in captivity? As much as people do not like to talk about venomoids, I think helping those who choose to keep them, it's always a benefit for the snake in my opinion as well as the safety of the person interested in buying the animal.
Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter.
Best Regard,
Christian G. Reina

Thank you for addressing this issue. And first, I will say that the site format is very impressive.
First, no personal information was posted here. The information posted is all public access that you provided when you registered the site.
Second, ignorance is not an excuse when the law is broken. Such documents and images were not yours to modify or distribute (putting them on a site is considered distributing). It is a blatant copyright infringement to several parties. This is not only illegal, but a direct violation of the terms of service you agreed to with your hosting company. That is means for immediate termination of your hosting account.
If I were you, I would hope that those individuals that you stole from are more forgiving than I am. If it had been my material, legal action would have been taken immediately. Each and every owner of the pirated documents and images has the right to sue you. And while removing the offending materials and offering an explanation and apology are certainly appreciated and show a degree of character, the fact that you had pirated and modified such materials remains.
A formal complaint on behalf of some of the victimized authors has been submitted to your hosting company and your account is under review. Given the nature of the TOS violation and the other possible legal ramifications, I am confidant that the account will be terminated.

Devenomized, regardless of my or anyone else's views on venomoids, you still don't seem to understand the problem here. You really need to do a little research into U.S. copyright law, and do it soon.
1) Original works are covered by copyright BY DEFAULT, whether the author states so or not.
2) The fact that someone else's work is publicly availible does not mean that it is in the public domain.
3) Using someone else's work on a publicly accessable web site, even if it is not for profit and for the public good does NOT meet the criteria for "fair use".
