Hi:
There is no record of this genus in two databases I looked in...
You most likely got the spelling wrong or something..The American Museum of Natural History database in unlikely to be wrong.

Good Luck,

Dear Anonymous: As far as your rude request for information on Chabanaud’s River Frog, it would have helped if you had spelled its Scientific Name correctly as Phrynobatrachus gutturosus. It would also help if instead of criticising the folks here who try to help about their lack of knowledge of world reptiles and amphibians, that you asked for help nicely. But I can not expect that from some foreign child who hides behing an anonymous post. It is probably part of your culture and upbringing to be rude, so maybee you do not know any better. Perhaps you are French? Below is a link to all you will ever need to know about Chabanauds River Frog, not for you, but for others who might benefit from the information available on the web site. If you ever grow up enough to stop hiding behind the anonymous post, and use your real name, and shed your rudeness, you might just find that you could fit in here and engage in discussions on a more grown up level. Well anonymous, the name of the frog is not the only thing you could not spell. HMMMMM lets see, I believe the correct spelling is COLOR. And the other one is VOICE. I can use these in a sentence if need be. OHHHHH wait, whats that I hear?? OOHHHH, its your 4th grade teacher calling you to come back to school. Don't be late. And I would dare say that a 15 year old kid is more educated than yourself.

Actually, Anonymous #1, the information I gave you about Chabanaud’s River Frog was excellent. It took you to a web site, that if you had read, and checked all the tabs and links, would have given you more knowledge about this frog than almost anyone knows. But I guess you were not smart enough to follow the links. And who cares if the information comes from the internet or not? Wether it comes from books, the web, field experience, or devine knowledge does not matter. You asked a question and got a correct answer. And as far as your intentinally mis spelling the name, that is very doubtful, as much of your other spelling was wrong, as Bryan pointed out. I bet it really pisses you off that someone answered your question. There are many, many other folks here who could have lead your poorly spelled request to the same information, but most have no desire to converse with someone who hides behind the anonymous title. If you do not have enough respect for yourself to use your own name, you can not be much of a person. I ask you again, are you French?
As far as anonymous #2, I actually think you are also anonymous #1 and have a split personality disorder, that you may or may not be awair of. And as far as your question, I did answer the question posted by anonymous #1. Did you follow the link and see that the link I provided had all the information on this obscure frog that anyone could ever want to know.
It is clear to me that you anonymous folks do have an interest in reptiles, and a tiny bit of knowledge. But it is also clear that you have so little respect for your knowledge, that you have to hide behind the anonymous tag. If you are smart enough to ask questions about a obscure frog, why not be smart enough to converse like normal folks? As I said before, you would be welcome here if you could converse in a grown up manner. The point that you keep trying to make about folks at this web site being mostly interested in North American reptiles and Amphibians is meaningless anyway. Of course we are mostly interested in North American reptiles. So what? No body ever said this web site was the worlds best information on all aspects of herpetology. Actually, if you knew all the members here, you would find folks from all over the world who post here, but again, you seem to be some silly, foreign kid who has nothing better to do than post silly questions from behind an anonymous mask. What a waste of talent. Anyone can think up wierd herp questions about obscure animals. It takes no effort. Tell me, you worldy reptile expert, how many teeth an Yellow Lipped Snake has? See, it is easy to think of stupid questions! I ask again, are you French? JohnZ

John did a good job getting the info he did on this type of frog. This is a west african species and there isn't a lot of info that can be found on the internet maybe apart from an amphibian data base . The anonymous poster should be greatfull that someone tried to get some info on phrynobatrachus gutturosus.
i can tell the anonymous poster about this frog but i think he / she should find out themself if they wont apprichiate the info given anyway .

Thanks Shaun! I try to help folks here find information, just as many here do. I know from reading your posts in the past that you have done the same many times, and you have brought up many interesting subjects for discussion.
What bothers me most about these anonymous folks is that I can tell that many are knowledgable about reptiles and amphibians, just by their questions. They would be respected as part of the forum if they did not hide behind anonymous postings. When they post anonymously, hardly anybody takes them seriously. It is kind of sad, as they could be much more than they are now. I just do not know why they feel the need to hide, or challenge folks.
Again Shaun, good to see you back. Best Regards JohnZ
