i have 2 edb's.......both are adults......one is fine, great tempered snake (one with the inflamed heat pit) and the other is as bitchy as i've ever seen.....i've seen pissy WDB and EDB but this one is ridiculous....and i swear, if i think about entering that room, she will anticipate it.....even when she can't see me, she knows i'm coming and knows it FAST......i don't wanna stress her out or cause her any harm, she may be fine like this for years to come, but are there any tricks to calming snakes like this....right now i keep her cage covered so she can't see, but would it be better for her to see when someone is in the room and possibly get used to it.....should i make it a point to let her see me maintaining all the snakes every time i do it, and just force her to get used to me being around.....not recognizing me, but realizing that i mean no harm......am i asking too much to think she'll settle down at all.....i don't know if she was WC, CB or CBB....i'm assuming WC with that temper....she's VERY healthy, 5ft or so, beautiful snake.....but god is she aggressive....i'm planning on building a huge snake cage setup out of solid material with small windows on the doors......maybe that will help, and i'm gonna have her up at head level.....i just don't wanna stress her out because i know how fragile they are......any tricks or anything?

If the cage is only partially covered, the snake will be able to see you, and still feel secure, and over time might just get used to your routine as being non threatning, and eventually calm down. JohnZ

Yeah, I would cover the bottom half of the cage front. Another trick is to paint the whole front glass, but leave strips so that you can see in & it can see out, but still feel secure. I would also recommend running a fecal on it, & treating for worms if necessary.

Does he have a hide in the cage? Sometimes that helps a lot.
I can't really answer whether it's "better" to keep him covered, in which case he will be less stressed now, but may always be somewhat stressed or to get it over with and let him get used to seeing you. I can say that we occasionally get a new snake in that is particularly easily aggitated (usually rattlesnakes) and may take months to get used to people, but they always do eventually and with no obvious long term problems (so far).

yeah, she's got a nice hide, and she uses it occasionally, but at night, she likes to sit out where the lamp shines and absorb the warmth.....what's funny, we had a baby monday, so sunday-wednesday we were gone....yesterday, she acted completely normal and there was a lot going on in other rooms, getting situated, etc...well, after about 6 hours, she went back to her old self...it's like she forgot she hated me lol
