I have heard of different types of copperheads. What are the differences? Also, how can I find a buyer of wild snakes that are needed for milking for antivenom? I live in Eastern Kentucky. Any ideas?

I'm sort of in a hurry, so I'll be very brief. Don't take it the wrong way.
1) I think you're too late. Kentucky just passed a new law banning private posession of venomous snakes without a permit that will be basically impossible for you to get.
2) I don't know that much about copperheads specifically, so I can't help you with that (just not my area).
3) The people milking snakes for research and antivenom have all they need.
4) If you're just now asking these quesions then no one who's serious about milking is going to buy snakes from you anytime soon.
5) Please consider another line of work.

If you are from KY, I would be very carful about Keeping or Handling any Venomous Snakes. Seems that some of the more High Class Keepers in our community, have gone to the Bureaucratic Bull that our Government seems to want to push. In other words, they decided to go with the flow and take part with the Government to take what we prize and love away from us. I call this Act Treason. As for trying to find Milkers that need Snakes. I would try moving to another State, before I even considered doing so. I wish you luck and hate to see anyone get their Freedom taken away. I see this as the start of a complete Ban on Venomous Reptiles “ who knows, it could become a Ban on all Reptiles, yes even Non-Venomous “.....................................Be safe ya’ll, happy herping Wally
