I was just wondering, which country has the most hot keepers ? I was thinking of the U.S. and Germany. I`m not sure which of the two hosts the most herpers. And, also, which state in the U.S. hosts the most serious herp keepers ? Is it Florida ?
Anticipated thanks, Alex S.

I agree. Florida is in my opinion the most herp friendly state. After Florida it would probably be South Carolina. Actually though, I think Austrailia may be a big contender against U.S and Germany.

Germany has a much bigger population than Australia. Australia has less people than Romania and for it to beat Germany it would take a huge precentage of the population to be herpers. And, from what I recall, the Hamm festival(Germany) is the biggest herp show in the world. I`ll get to it some time. Take care

One thing to keep in mind is that while Australia has a much smaller population than Germany, the vast majority of snakes here are elapids (and overseas snakes are prohibited). So, if a herper is into snakes then unless he wants to keep only pythons or a couple colubrids, then its onto elapids. So, while the overall numbers may be a bit smaller, as a relative percentage of local herpers keeping hots, Australia would definately lead the list.
Cheers

One thing I noticed is that there are alot of people in Florida and there arent that many bad bites that I hear about from Floridians(maybe I just havent been filled in on the bites, but I dont really here of many) I was impressed with the people I saw in Florida that kept hots. I believe one guy even had a computer in his hot room specifically for data on his snakes. I dont know too many people in Georgia that keep hots around my area but the few people who did have them also had extremly good housing facilities.

Jerremy, I once saw a show that said that Florida has more cobra bites than South Africa. And I also saw taipan and mamba bites from FL. just something to keep in mind. If a place has a lot of hot keepers, it surely must have a lot of bites. Take care...
