Hy guys,
I`m leaving tonight for Caras-Severin County(south-west Romania) for another 7 day herping trip. This county probably has the largest number of reptile species in my country. I could find:
-European Pond Turtles(Emys orbicularis)
-Hermann`s Tortoise(Testudo hermanni boetgeri)
-Wall Lizards(Podarcis muralis)
-Sand Lizards(Lacerta agilis)
-Green Lizards(Lacerta viridis)
-Meadow Lizards(Darevskia praticola pontica)
-Slow worms(Anguis fragilis)
-Grass Snakes(Natrix natrix)
-Dice Snakes(Natrix tessellata)
-Smooth Snake(Coronella austriaca)
-Aesculapian Rat-Snake(Zamenis longissimus)
-Large Whip Snake(Dolichophis caspius)
-European Adder(Vipera berus)
-European Nose-Horned Viper(Vipera ammodytes ammodytes)
...and this last one is something realy special that I think few of you have heard of:
-1 of 3 existing populations of Vipera berus X Vipera ammodytes(natural hibrids).
I`ve been to this place only once befor but the trip didn`t come out as planned. I just hope that this time we will compensate for everything we lost in 2003.
I`ll be writing about my trip and posting pics when I`ll be back, till then wis me luck. Take care...
Best regards, Alex S.

Hi Karl,
I`ll send you pics of everything I`ll find when I`ll come back.
I`ll be on the road(or should I say rail-roads) for 18 hours befor I get there. I live in the extreme north-est part of Romania and the place I`m going to is in the extreme south west. And between where I live and where I`m heading there are the Carpathian Mountains, and all the major roads and railways go around them.
Best regards, Alex S.
