What methods do you all use to "bag" snakes? I have seen alot of different methods, but what do you all think works the best and is the safest. I use to just hold one end of a pillowcase and try to get the snake in with a hook and found that to be dangerous and unneccasary, then a good herper around my area showed me a simple but safe method of bagging snakes:Get a bucket, put the pillow case in it like you would put a trashbag in a trash can, and then put the snake in the bag and tie it up.
p.s. If you have better ideas other than bags and pillow cases, please feel free to tell us your method.

Best AND safest?
Hands down - the Pro Bagger System from tongs.com.
Although it may be a bit pricey, I have no problems with a novice using it to bag just about anything native to Georgia.

If you want to go the cheaper route you can use an old gutted tennis raquette and a body pillow case. I would suggest, however, the Pro bagger system. It keeps the snakes a safe distance from the body and hands. Mant snakebites occur during bagging and after the snake has been bagged (snakes can easily bite through cotton).

I've used two methods that I think are very safe:
1: (More portable) Take a stick about 4 feet long and attach two clips a foot or so apart. You can attach one side of the opening of a bag (pillow case) to the clips. Lay the bag on the ground, use the stick to hold it open, and manouver the snake in. Most will see the bag as a hiding place.
2: (Less portable but easier to use) I bought a fishing net (the kind for lifting a fish on a line into the boat), removed the netting and sewed up a cloth funnel in place of the mesh. The end of the funnel goes inside the bag and the top of the bag is clipped in place. Just drop the snakes in and they slide into the bag. Too bulky to carry around like a pro bagger, but it works with pillow cases insted of $15 bags. I guess you could open the bottom of the bag that comes with the pro bagger and do the same.
Either way, I always lay a snake stick across the mouth of the bag and coax the snake back far enough that he can't reach where I'll be handling the bag to tie/tape it.
And like someone else said, be careful with the bag afterwards. Don't heave it over your shoulder or attach it to your belt like I see way too many people doing on TV.

i got a 12 pack cooler and drill little air hole all over it the lid only lifts on one side so i can open it when i see the snake and close it with the hook after putting the snake in it makes it a one person job and u can stay a safe distance at all times
