They aren't dangerous, but they aren't harmless, either. Basically, they pose no threat unless they feel they are in danger. If they are left alone, nothing will happen. But, if a bite does occur, they are known for extreme pain and swelling. A bite from a large specimen could be quite serious. If you have them near your house, stay clear or have someone remove them for you, unless you have a hook and can do it yourself. They do more for you alive than dead, and remember, it was their land first. If you are asking because you either keep or want to keep them, use a hook and you will have no problems. They are quite bold little snakes, you would think they are much bigger for the way they act. But they are awesome snakes and make good captives, as well as good pest removers if you have them around your house.
Just be careful and you'll have no problems.

Thanks TJP, over the past several days I noticed at least 4 of these little guys on my lanai and my main concern is that my dog who was the first to notice these little guys might want to mess with them etc. I would like to move them to the yard so that they can enjoy their land and I can allow my dog access to the lanai. I am going to attempt to move them very carefully. Thank you for the information I appreciate it very much.

Also remeber that there has never been a fatality ever from a pigmy. But like TJ said they are not a snake to be taken for granted.

They arent as dangerous as a great white shark in your swimming pool, but they are dangerous. They are front fanged, VENOMOUS rattlesnakes. They are actually quite potent(from what I have heard and read) but dont yield very much venom. You definetly would not want to take a bite, but as far as being a problem or a pest...they are no problem at all if you respect their space and know what to look out for and what habitat they prefer. It is true that not many if any fatalities have occured but that is not saying that they cannot kill someone. They are not a snake to be careless around but compared to alot of other snakes, they arent too bad.

Oh yeah Map. I would like to thank you for not killing them and respecting their space. We need more people like you in this world. Anyone who respects the animals we share our space with has my highest respect.
