I am wondering from the devastating hurricane katrina if the already vulnerable population of eastern diamondbacks were destroyed by the worst natural disaster since they started to die off?

I would imagine they won't be affected that bad. Diamondbacks can swim very well. The areas flooded are only right along the coast.
Hurricanes actually helped diamondbacks in South Carolina by uprooting trees. The fallen trees with root sytems exposed provided cover to the animals for years. (the fallen uprooted trees are appropriately called "hurricanes" by the local residents.)
Most of the snake hunters from coastal carolinas know these 'hurricanes' are GREAT places to find diamondbacks.
Nature can generally deal with things like this. It's the human animal that is separated from its environment and has a hard time coping with change...

well from that last strain do you think that diamondbacks are on hunting island still or do they need to change their brochure?
