Try looking at VenomoidReptiles.org. This is a VENOMOUS site, so NO, we don't know where you can get one. Sorry you are having difficulty ONLY finding VENOMOUS snakes. It's such a shame finding snakes for sale that are still VENOMOUS. How about this? I'll sell you a scarlet kngsnake for $1000 and you can tell people it's a venomoid coral snake. I'm sure you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two, so your friends shouldn't be able to tell, either. This way you can show it off, without hurting yourself, and I'll have a huge profit (just like the butchers) and everyone is happy. ESPECIALLY THE SNAKE THAT IS STILL ALIVE WITH IT'S VENOM GLANDS.
You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Cindy,
There are places where you can find venomoid snakes on the internet.
This is not one of them and as you can judge from the immediate responses, most of the people here are passionately against them.
We usually get one of two kinds of people who come in here and ask about venomoids: 1) The people who genuinely do not know about or understand the horrors involved in the venomoiding "industry" and 2) The people who come in here and ask about them just to stir up the hornet's nest of emotions surrounding this topic. I am willing to assume that you are a member of the first group.
A little online research will show you that even venomoiding a large viper like a Gaboon Viper does not render it harmless. Their large fangs and oral bacteria can do permanent nerve and/or tissue damage even without venom.
I HIGHLY recommend against getting a venomoid snake or even dealing with people who deal in venomoid snakes.
Good luck with your decision.

I agree whole heartedly as I was trying my hardest to aquire a venomoid but christ that is a barbarric and sick procedure, I will never have a venomoid snake related to my name ever again since people asked me to do the right thing and never have anything to do with them full stop and a Bitis has huge venom glands and it will be a serious injury to the snake bad place to look for these animals that have been devoid of their natural defences akin to you having your hands, feet and teeth yanked out or off so you cant hurt someone not right in most cases hey.

Never pay for a venomoid unless it's living in awful conditions (apart from being venomoided) and you're acquiring it to save it's life. Don't create demand for this surgery if you can help it. I would not decline to give a venomoid a home. It's not the snake's fault that it's missing chunks of what it was given at birth in order to survive. Hating or avoiding the venomoid snakes themselves is, as MsTT said, "Like calling a rape victim a whore." If anyone asked me to house a venomoid that needs a home, the answer is always, "yes!" Will I pay money to commision such a surgery? No.
Ok, I'm done pontificating.

Sorry Wally, I removed your post.
I believe that there are people who come here and ask about venomoids because they don't know any better.
Offering to cut out their eyes does not enlighten them to the plight of venomoided animals nor does it meet our attempts to educate the public.
I am sorry to hear about your wife and hope that her recovery from surgery is both as swift and as painless as possible.

Boy did you step into the wrong spot! This is an "intact" snake site. Have you ever seen a botched venomoid? The snake dies slow and very painfully. Some morons don't do the job right and within six months you have a Gaboon viper very mad and ready for action as the glands become active and the idiot that bought it gets what he or she has comming to them.
DON'T create a demand. get a Ball Python and tell your buddies its a Russels Viper. Remember 85% of the surgeries are done by QUACKS and the glands do become active with time so watch what you buy.
Find someone who will teach you about snakes and learn to handle the non-venomous species. There are thousands out there that need a good home why pick on a viper? get a Boa or a Python, they are beautiful snakes and great for beginners, everyone starts at the bottom you are not special do what the rest of us had to do.

Sorry about losing my temper, wont happen again. I think 90%, if not more of our community are totally and surly against Venomoiding any Venomous Snake. This process is Highly Dangerous on the Animal, not to mention Dangerous on you. As Karl said, removing the Venom Glands of a Venomous Snake dose not make the Animal any less Dangerous. The reason why is, Bacterial Growth in the Animals mouth. This can do just as much damage as the Venom itself, think about that “would you like to trust the fact that you could die just as easy from the Bacteria in the mouth, as from the Venom”? If I were you, I would first Keep and Handle as many of the High-Strung Non-Venomous Snakes as I could. This would some what prepare you, for the possibility of a Bite. Be safe and please don’t add to the demand for Venomoids by paying for one, all this dose is give the People involved more incentive to make more.......................Be safe ya’ll : Wally
