This past Sunday, I placed an adult A.C.Contortrix male in an enclosure which held 1.1 of the same. The male that was already in the cage, immediately approached the intruder, and they began their "wrestling match". Didn`t last long as the intruder was a little smaller, but was interesting. I have watched snakes combat on Nat. Geo. and Discovery many times, was my first "live" event. I had rather watch them than the WWE anytime!!!
Best regards,
Vampire

THat sounds like an awsome experience. I have personally never heard of that in copperheads but I know many snakes from the agkistrodon group do it so I am not suprised. DId you get any picture?

Yeah, that is a neat thing to actually witness. I came to work one morning to see about twenty pairs of Florida cottonmouths in combat. I really wish I'd had a camera. That was in a large pit that had nearly a hundred snakes, mostly cottonmouths in it.

Approximately 3 weeks ago, I had a male Crotalus l. lepidus combat with a male Crotalus l. klauberi who was half the size of the former. They continued for a few hours into the night and that was the end of it. Curiously, I had just finished cleaning and disinfecting the cage in which they did their combat. Really cool stuff !!
