Al,
I've been trying to get ahold of some of the research/field workers of late to no avail. I have found a nice Mid-State WV den. I'd like to have someone go with me on the next trip to help document this particular den, but it seems that no one's willing to go the distance. I don't mind driving, but do need someone other than myself who can go along and take real measurments and stats. I know that a tube sock wearing guy, such as yourself, is more than capable of doing this feat. If at all possible, I'd like to see if you or even someone you might know from PA or WV (strictly research oriented), is willing to go the distance.
Being that the populations even in this remote area are on a decline, this particular den, really isn't as accessible as say something that most hikers could venture upon. If up to the task, it would require a quick planning, as the timing is diminishing each day. The temperatures at this site, are dropping each week, so time is of the essence. Obviously, the site won't move, however, being able to document pre-hibernation, then again in the spring, etc. will be invaluable for this particular area that is untouched.

A man who wears tube socks can do anything. Just look at Buzz Aldridge, John F. Kennedy, Neil Armstrong, Al Coritz. Kidding Al, I see the tube sock remark on here all the time. Bryan

Al,
I figured it was worth while to bring you into this, only due to the remoteness of this location. The only ones who could potentially be horrified would be the snakes, so it's not like I'd have to hide my identity or anything....ha ha ha.
All kidding aside, if you're in Philly, it's about 130 miles from here, and another 5 hours from here to the site. Sounds like an all day venture.
We can talk it over on the phone.
If there's anyone in the East-Central portion of WV who posts here, I'd like to talk with you, maybe get a few more insights into this region.

Well Al, you did have mail, but that queer spam blocker, blocks all email...nice of earthlink (seems vaguely similar to AOhell). Anyhow, if you send me mail, hopefully a reply email won't get blocked.
