What does everyone think of the site no that Anonn,posting has been stopped, personally I love it but has it affected the "hit rate" of the site? keyz

I woudln`t have stopped annon. postings.
I think that everyone has the right to keep their identity a secret if they want to.
Vulgare, obscene postings may be easily deleted.

I don't know about this specific area of the site, but overall hits are up. Sept saw 3.2 million raw hits, which translates into 744,000 page views. In order, here are the top sites that we are getting traffic from:

The problem with the vulgar and obscene postings, and anonymous personal attacks, was that they often stayed up for several hours before they were deleted in the evenings.
As a web site that is used for Educational Purposes by Young Students, it was not good to have those postings there.
I do agree with Alex that people should have personal freedom to express ideas, and sometimes anonymity would be nice, but protecting the young kids who use the site should probably come first.
Perhaps someone wanting to post anonymously could register a second membership under a different name and not put any information in the profile?
On a second thought about the web site, is there any way Chris to add a spelling checker? Or perhaps someone knows of a freeware application that can be added to the tool bar. It would sure make spelling words like ``anonymity`` and ``anonymous`` much easier. Best Regards JohnZ

Type your replies in MS Word or a similar program. You can then copy and paste...Hope it helps.

I could do that with Work Perfict 11, but hate going back and forth, and hate to keep WP runnin all the time, as it eats up system resources. I was hoping for some kind of small add on program that would be much simpler, kind of like a notepad with spelling check, or even a dictionary, that would live on the tool bar. JohnZ

I have seen spell check on other fourms before and it sure does come in handy. I hated the whole anoymous posting. A long time ago it was usfull but then it was abused and like most things in life that are abused they are taken away. Just as the saying goes a few bad apples have to ruin the whole clutch.

I found a kool answer to my own question about a Spelling Checker / Theosarus on Tucows. It is free, and can be left on the desktop or tool bar.
It is called The Sage`s English Dictionary.
