Samantha: There have been a couple of times that I have heard what could be described as ``snake farts`` while hooking large pythons and rattlesnakes from cages. This is probably fairly uncommon though, as snakes have a remarkebly good digestive system, which is able to digest fur, bones, feathers, etc. I think that gas is the result of incomplete digestion, especially of starches and fats, and most of what snakes eat is high in protien, and low in fat and starch. ``Reptile farts`` were much more common at the Zoo, from animals that were fed vegatables and fruits, such as Aldabra Turtles and Iguana Lizards. Hope this helps some. JohnZ

What I want to know is why would anyone care if a snake passes wind or not? Maybe if you stuffed some cheesy pizza inside of a feeder rodent, it might start passing wind. I once did hear one of my snakes, however, make a farting sound as it was defecating. But I wouldn't call it farting. After farting (or before), there's burping & belching. Do they do it? Maybe some beer in their water might bring it on. To go with the pizza mouse.

Well as usual Cro you have atleast tried to answer this "silly" question and thanks for doing so, sorry to rosemilk but I fed a couple of feeder mice plenty of baked beans and farting powder and then deliberately tried feeding it to my pizza farting snake and he refused it so I dipped it in tomato sauce and slapped a bit of pepperoni on its head the snake then farted burped and wrote an essay on how he did it thats why I asked the question to see if the experts could identify a pizza eating snake as a main farting culprit of the reptile kingdom oh by the way Monitor's cant half drop some stinky bricks, seems to me that this one may go down in the archives under most useless use of a genuine site, helped by me posting sorry about asking a question. KEYZ.
