Does anyone know of any verifiable cases of owners, veternarians, zoo keeper, researchers or such being bitten by a venomous snake while attempting to implant a PIT tag or similar tracking/identification device? References or enough info for me to track them down would be greatly appreciated.

Larry: There was someone researching rattlesnakes in the mid-west, perhaps Oklahoma, about 6 or 7 years ago, who was bitten while trying to install or un-install a radio transmitter, not a pit tag, in a hand held, not tubed, somewhat sedated snake.
I seem to remember a small Prairie Rattlesnake or WDB involved, and not too severe of a bite.
I believe it was some college professor or grad student from Colorado, or Kansas.
Right off, I can not find the reference, but will keep looking for it, and let you know if I can locate it again.
Perhaps someone like AquaHerp from the Western States remembers this incident with more details than me. JohnZ
