Hi Derek, I don’t know a lot about (Crotalus viridis), but I can tell you that the basic thing to remember is to make sure (1). Intestinal Track of the Snake is free of Feces (2.) Snake has no Internal or External Parasites (3.) Drop the Cage Temp down to Room Temp (4.) After one full Week of this bring the Temp down to about 50-55 Degrees F. Now, as for the best time to start Brumation, I would say the beginning of December would be your best time to have the Snake in full Brumation. As for bringing the snake back out. Bring the snake back out gradually, in this I mean over a weeks time. In most situations the best time to bring the Snake back out of Brumation is late March. You might want to consult someone with more Knowledge about Rattlesnake Habits, my best Knowledge is on Agkistrodon’s, so I am not the Qualified one to give full advice on what to do in this situation. I wish you the best of luck, take care................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally
