I prefer Front Loading Cages myself, being I like to stack my Cages to save space. I have worked with Top Loaders, and to me they seem to be more Dangerous than Front Loaders. To explain my point, I was removing a Canebrake from a Top Loader. As I inserted the Hook to remove the Snake, I noticed that my hand was being put strait in the line of Fire. I guess I am just a very Safe Minded Fellow, but I really prefer Front Loaders. If you think about it, having a Front Loader leaves you more of a Escape Rout, if the Snake does Strike. Just my opinion, like I said I am a very Safe Minded Fellow.........................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

A brief clarification..
It is my preference to use a front doored cages for reasons stated. Many people keep them in top loading cages securely and safely. Using trapboxes with ether types is a good idea, as you never can have too many "layers" of protection.
I may wear tube socks but at least I don't keep "Baboon Vipers"
Cheers!

Touche' Al. I guess I will never be able to live that one down. In my defense it was past my bedtime and my system was pretty much watered-down ( if ya' know whatta mean).Though my mind said bamboo viper it came out baboon viper. Just so you know I have never cracked on the socks. To each their own.
Take care Al.

Todd

BOTH!!! The more options, the better. I haven't seen any one piece sliding front opening cages (or top opening) for sale recently. They are hinged and I can't stand that design. John Z... I would like to talk with you about some of my design ideas if you are going to manufacture cages for hots.... Sincerely, Michael

Michael: I would like to hear your ideas for cage designs, as well as ideas from anybody else who has ideas of what would make the best reptile cage.
You could post them here for others to comment on, or Email them to me.
The more ideas we get, the better the design could be.
This is still in the dream phase, as I will have to sell some property to get the money for the equipment.
I have, however, been researching different plastic manafacturing processes, and places to purchase used vaccume forming machines, and costs of materials.
So, the idea is serious, and just might work.
I looked into purchasing the rites to neodesha cages and their equipment, but they want to sell it all or none, and they want $150,000.00 for the whole mess.
That is more than I can afford.
Purchasing used machines, and building the molds myself might make the project feasable.
Anyway, If anybody has more cage ideas, please post them.
Best Regards JohnZ

Hay Todd, I hope I didn’t offend you by playing on what Al wrote. I truly meant no harm by what I said. If I offended you in any way, I sincerely apologize. I must choose my Jokes a little more carefully. .................................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

When I rebuild my snake room, I plan on installing front-opening cages only. I currently have only top-opening cages. I will rebuild sometime next spring or summer.
