I was just curious, what kind of substrate do you pigmy keepers use? Right now I am using cypress, but I was'nt sure if that was the best route to go.

Hi Billy, personally I have only kept 4 Pigs in my Entire Herping Life. I have used Cypress and other Natural Substrates, but by far the best Substrate I have found is Shredded Newspaper. It is Cheap, plus the danger to your Snake is literally nonexistent. I know that a lot of Keepers prefer to use Natural Sub’s, but I believe that if you can save Money, why not use something that is Free. I take my Newspapers and use a Paper Shredder to prepare them. After Shredding I place the Paper in a Clean 55 Gallon Trash Cane, in the corner of my Herp Room. This makes thing so much Cheaper and Easier. Hope this helps you and please excuse my rambling on about my ways of doing things “LOL”.................Be Safe Ya’ll, Happy Herping : Wally

I use newspaper & Paper towles in my rack system.... It's cheap and makes clean up alot easier & faster..
But if your setting up an enclosure for display... I would use Cypress mulch...
