I heard from a friend couple weeks ago that they were back in production. He says he saw them at the last Orlando or Tampa show. I checked the old website, www.NeodeshaCages.com and phone number 1-866-380-3435. Both were dead. I tried information for Neodesha, KS and there was no listing, however, the last time they were in production they were based out of FL. Does anyone have any information on this?

I have no specific info either way, but I would point out two things:
1) News travels slow in some circles. Not everyone knows that they went out of business the first time. Maybe he just heard about the second try and hasn't heard that it went bye-bye already.
2) They're so popular that there's a booming trade in used ones, so maybe that's what he saw...

I considered both of those possibilities when I was talking with him and he assured me that was not the case. I can’t recall if he said Tampa or Orlando, but he claims to have seen them at one of those shows within the last couple months???? I certainly hope they are back!

I have heard that several times in the past year but haven't seen them. I just some people are thinking about when they re-opened the business a few years back but then shut it down again.

You got me excited enough to do a fair amount of web searching and I see thousnads of hits from people wanting to buy or sell used ones, people lamenting the loss, and people recommending them when someone asks what's the best hot cage. Nothing about them coming back (other than comments from a few years ago).
If they are back in business, they are doing a very good job of keeping the secret.
P.S. Just for reference, I see lots of neodesha cages at every show I go to... Vendors use them to display their wares and probably will until the last one crumbles to dust. Never seen one for sale...

When I last talked with the folks at Bush Herpetological (the last ones to produce neodesha cages ) about purchasing the cage business, they said that they still get two or three calls a month from people wanting to bring back the cages, even though they have been closed for 5 years now.
The whole neodesha plastics plant was for sale, as well as the reptile cage division.
It is possible that someone came up with the $150,000.00 that they wanted for the purchase of the neodesha cage line, although I rather doubt it. It is sure more than I was willing to pay.
Perhaps someone bought the whole neodesha plastics plant, and is going to bring back the cages. I think they were wanting $2.5 million for the whole place.
It would be great to see the cages available again, as they were the best. If they are available, I am sure we will soon see adds in all the reptile magazines.

What about you John... are you still working on a line of cages? A man of your experience... I would like to see what you come up with.

Andrew: Yep, I am still interested in developing a line of reptile cages, and am still learning about the vaccume molding plastics business.
The only way I could do it is if I can sell some real-estate that I own. So far, no one seems interested in purchasing the real-estate. Hopefully, that will change sometime in the future.
Best Regards JohnZ
