Can anyone tell me the legality of owning caiman as pets in the state of Nevada? There were some recent changes in the exotic pet laws (most of which I don't understand) this past summer, making Nevada very restrictive as far as exotic pets go. But no one has been able to tell me anything about caiman, and I can't find anything on the web regarding this particular subject. Any reliable info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom.

My advice for you is as follows.Whenever I have a question about laws,I ask the people who enforce them...State game dept. for one or DNR if its responcible for keeping the laws enforced.The USFW is another that you might ask.Be prepared for a wait on the answer...they can take a long time.If the people who enforce the laws don't know then you are in trouble as this shows a lack of everyone being on the "same page" and even if one guy says "its alright" another may say"no way".Have them site the law that pertains to the topic and research it on their website.In this case it would be NDOW.try starting here http://ndow.org/about/bureaus/law.shtm .
There is usually a "grandfather"clause that allow people who had them before the law went into effect to keep but not breed these critters. Shuman
