Just wanted to let you know - I updated my profile as some of you requested. I guess I am a little skittish about too much personal info floating around in cyberspace, but - if you needed to know a little more about me, it's in my profile now!

Mike: Thanks for filling in the profile.
I do not think you need to worry about flames from what you stated in the advise for new venomous keepers.
You are right on about many close calls being caused by husbandry mistakes.
What we can hope for is that when older keepers talk about mistakes, that the newer keepers will learn from this, and not repeat the same mistakes.
Welcome to the forum.
Best Regards JohnZ

Check your previous thread. I posted my own, somewhat dubious thoughts, on the subject

Mike,
Welcome to the site. Don't worry about being flamed about your advice to new keepers in this hobby.
Your statements were factual and very enlighting. If someone were to take offense to your advice... then they don't need to be in this hobby. I especially like your comment on goals in the herpoculture, the relaxing effect keeping your hots have on you. I thought I was the only one who felt that way.
The feeling is akin to what my german buddy said about running 120+ mph on the autobahn. He said the reason he feels safer on it than U.S. highways is that the focus needed to drive 120+ mph requires more than us rubber necking americans, talking on mobile phones, watching dvds, etc. are accustomed to. At first I took offense to his statement until I entered into the venomous hobby.
Happy Herping,
Todd
